“Radio Lad”
“Radio Lad” explores the changing paradigms of technology, creation, and consumption. This work evokes the mid-20th century era of democratic technology, when understanding the inner workings of machines was both educational pursuit and practical necessity.
The focal figure—a boy engaged in the meticulous assembly of a kit radio—symbolizes humanity's relationship with technology at a pivotal moment when individuals could comprehend, manipulate, and repair the things that connected them to the wider world. The exploded technical diagram beneath his concentrated gaze serves as both a schematic guide and a metaphorical commentary on transparency in design.
The concentric orange circles suggest not just electromagnetic waves, but the ripple effects of technological understanding—how the comprehension of systems empowers the individual. This piece invites reflection on our contemporary relationship with sealed, proprietary technology that increasingly resists user intervention and repair, challenging viewers to consider what has been gained and lost in our evolution from tinkerers to consumers.
The muted color palette and technical illustration style deliberately reference midcentury educational materials, positioning the work within a broader conversation about nostalgia, progress, and the changing nature of human agency in an increasingly complex technological landscape.

High Quality Canvas
My Giclée canvas prints are crafted with high-quality, archival materials to ensure lasting durability and vibrant colors. Experience gallery-quality results on a semi-matte cotton canvas. The UV print technique ensures water and fade resistance, while the lightly textured surface adds depth and the look of the original canvas to the print.
The canvas is 344 gsm in weight and stretched onto wooden stretcher bars like the original. Once stretched, the final print will be around 20mm deep/thick on the side.
Framing
The floater frames are crafted from poplar hardwood, giving your canvas the appearance of floating within the frame. The frame is 1 cm (0.4”) wide from the front and 4 cm (1.6”) deep from the side. The frames come in black, white, and oak to suit any artwork. Optionally, you can receive your artwork without a frame if you would like to have it framed yourself. Note: Frames may vary slightly in color, finish, and spacing from example images.
Ready to hang
Each print comes ready to hang with pre-installed sawtooth hardware and rubber bumpers to protect your wall and keep your artwork perfectly aligned.

For best results, follow these steps:
Remove any clutter from in front of the wall. It would be best if the wall were blank.
Stick a piece of paper (with the size written on the sheet, i.e, “A4” or “Letter”), a Dollar, Euro, or other note, to the wall as a size reference.
Take a natural, well-lit image of your wall.
Email your photo and the size(s) of the print you’re interested in to studio@evansmade.com
I’ll email your photoshopped image within 1-2 working days.
