Engaging with potential clients is much harder today than it was even five years ago, especially for B2B companies. Those "B" and C-suite decision makers have no time for your email campaigns and phone calls. You need to get in front of them in a meaningful way. One that makes sense for your brand, and is sticky enough for your sales team to make regular contact.

MY PATENTED DESIGN PROCESS:

  1. Learn about company/project and their goals

  2. Client fills out brand/project questionnaire 

  3. I get excited about the project and about how awesome it could be

  4. Research

  5. Try to create something super unique and witty… but sketch a bunch of clichés

  6. Look for inspiration

  7. See other designers brilliant solutions and conclude I’m a hack

  8. Procrastinate by… surfing the web, working on other projects, paying bills, etc.

  9. Wake up with a brilliant idea

  10. Start working on it and realize it’s not going to work

  11. Keep noodling 

  12. Procrastinate more

  13. Idea pops up while working on another project

  14. That idea morphs into a bunch of different ideas / designs

  15. Can’t pick my favorites

  16. Show the client a bunch of options

  17. Client can’t decide (for good and bad reasons)

  18. Think about starting a competing business based on whatever design is rejected (usually my favorite)

  19. Research business and decide it’s too hard

  20. Receive feedback from client

  21. Make changes

  22. Return revised design(s)

  23. Repeat 20 through 22

  24. Land on final design

  25. Package all elements and send to client

  26. Get “just a few more changes”

  27. Repeat 20 through 26

  28. Make sure client is happy and off to the races with all necessary materials

  29. Have an even BETTER design idea

  30. Think about starting a business with new idea

 

Originally from Atlanta I’m often mistaken for a Californian, but with a southerners penchant for story telling. After my formative years in Georgia, I migrated south to St. Augustine and attended Flagler College where I studied graphic design and majored in surfing. After college and an enlightening year-long tour around the globe, I settled in Atlanta to pursue my career as a graphic designer. A year later the call of the ocean beckoned me back to Florida, where I worked for a few advertising agencies before ultimately starting my own.

As the son of a mechanical engineer, I tend to blend an engineering mindset into my creative work. I’m methodical, pragmatic, and obsessive, without abandoning the eye for beautiful design that I've gained from my years of branding experience. This means I can roll up my sleeves, get my head under the hood, and dive into the details, while my entrepreneurial side allows me to take an aerial view of projects and see the "bigger picture.” 

People come to me needing to improve their branding or solve a marketing problem, and my brain is already thinking "ok, what next?" "where are you going after that?" It's a gift... and a curse. 

While helping other people’s ideas and dreams come to fruition is rewarding, I also have a huge entrepreneurial streak. Again, this enables me to grasp the inner-workings of a brand and solve problems not typically associated with “branding.” It also keeps me interested in many different subjects, as well as my own products and entrepreneurial endeavors. 

In March of 2020, possibly the worst timing ever, my wife and daughter and I sold and donated the majority of our things and began our new lifestyle as world nomads.
